Lagos, Portugal... the stunning Algarve!

The final week of our Mediterranean trip ended, not in the Mediterranean,  but in the Algarve Region of southern Portugal  in the city of Lagos, with its stunning architecture .

If you've never been here before you really must make it one of your destinations.  Old town is our favourite simply because it is 'cobblestone street' old, has fountains, narrow alleys, is pedestrian friendly ... and look at the stonework!!

Shops, bars and restaurants line the mostly pedestrian  area with live entertainment heard as one strolls about.

A variety of food can be found everywhere from snacks to fancy...

This was at the lovely "No Patio"

...to small family run businesses that are simply delicious... a great place to share with old and new friends and special family members...

This one is run by Sabir and his family called "Ala do Castelo"

People are friendly and welcoming in Portugal.   The weather is great, many beaches are nearby and the scenery is spectacular.

Grottos abound on the shoreline that have been carved by waves crashing into them with hidden beaches to explore...

These can be seen simply by walking along the shore where tunnels have been created to access a multitude of beaches..

Look closely at the top picture to see the picture in the bottom... can you see the people up top?

The tunnel on the right provides the access to the next beach... just duck a little and...

Voilà, another beach...

Or you can rent kayaks or paddle board to explore on your own...

Of course, you can always go on a boat cruise with other tourists or with family and friends to see the amazing shoreline further afield from the town beaches...

There's just so much to look at...

You might even be lucky enough to see some dolphins...

Whatever you do, you will most certainly be awed by the amazing landscapes of Lagos.

Ciao!
